    PHUKET, THAILAND, July 09, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The race will be celebrating its 30th edition this year when it's held from 15th July to 21st August 2011. The event is such a prestigious occasion that even the Spanish royal family attends. Keen sailors themselves, previous editions such as those in 1984 and '85 have seen H.M. Juan Carlos competing in one of the regattas.

The regatta originated in 1982 when 50 boats took part and today there are over 100 yachts competing in different classes. The races have grown to be held in such high regard that it's now an event that all the world's top crews want to be fighting for.

The boats will be divided into different classes although the regulations for classifying the boats change consistently over the years.
