CORNWALL, ENGLAND, July 14, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cornwall will be the latest county to have the privilege of hosting the official Glenn Miller Orchestra UK next month.
The group are due to perform at Truro's Hall for Cornwall on Thursday August 18th, offering an evening of music that invokes the bygone age of the 1940s.
Led by Ray McVay, the orchestra will play a number of tributes to legendary bandleader Ted Heath, as well as a host of Glenn Miller musical staples.
The concert is set to provide wistful nostalgia for those who remember Miller's USAAF band and the concerts he played across Europe during the second world war.
To complete the air of authenticity, the second half of the show will be performed in US army air force uniforms.
Founded in 1988, the Glenn Miller Orchestra UK maintains a library comprised of more than 200 scores, including arrangements from both the civilian and army/air force orchestras.
The orchestra has maintained the exact stage line-up devised by Miller, which features the leader, five saxophones, four trumpets, four trombones and a male and female vocalist.
Tickets for the performance are on sale for GBP16 and GBP18.50.
