His work went on display at the beginning of July to coincide with Liverpool Arabic Arts Festival, but visitors can view the collection until August 29th 2011.
 
Shawky is one of Egypt's most prominent artists and his drawings often hide a dark side behind their charming aesthetic.
 
"In his series of works Cabaret Crusades he re-tells the story of the crusade, often blurring the distinction between good and evil, and between aggressors and victims," explained the venue in a statement.
 
The artist is well-known for utilising film, animations, sculptures and drawings as creative outlets.
 
Cabaret Crusades explores the causes and effects of religious war and the way it has affected relations between European and Arab nations.
 
The Walker Art Gallery, which is within walking distance of Liverpool Lime Street rail station and several bus services, is open from 10:00 to 17:00 BST every day and is free to enter.
