HONG KONG, HK, July 29, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hong Kong Museum of Art (HKMA) is showcasing an exhibition entitled A Passion for Tradition: The Art of Li Yanshan.
The display is available to view until October 16th 2011 and features a range of items, including hanging scrolls, handscrolls and more conventional paintings.
According to the venue, the artist studied the works of the Yuan and Ming masters to develop his own unique creative style.
In a statement, it explained: "The late Guangdong master Li Yanshan (1898 - 1961) was a key member of the Guangdong Chinese Painting Research Society and the principal of the Guangzhou Municipal College of Fine Arts in the 1930s."
About 100 Chinese landscape and wildlife paintings have been loaned to the HKMA for the purposes of the retrospective, including A Land Untarnished from 1946 and Riding in the Mountains from 1953.
Opening hours at the venue are from 10:00 to 18:00 local time from Friday to Wednesday, except for Saturday when it shuts at 20:00.
Admission costs HK$10 (80 pence), but visitors can enter for nothing if they go on a Wednesday.
