Madame Butterfly, the classic three-act production by Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, will be performed at the theatre by New Cornwall Opera on Friday September 2nd and Saturday September 3rd.
 
The show enjoyed a highly successful five-night run at the region's open-air Minack Theatre in mid-July and will head to Truro for two performances in a more conventional setting.
 
Puccini's masterpiece will be sung in English, with musical direction provided by Cornish maestro David Frost.
 
Known for its emotional power and gripping climax, Madame Butterfly was based on a short story of the same name by American writer John Luther Long.
 
It tells the tragic tale of US naval officer Lieutenant Pinkerton and Cio-Cio San, the Japanese geisha he takes for a wife.
 
Tickets for the production can be purchased online, priced between GBP12 and GBP22. Each performance is due to begin at 19:30 local time.
