Hawaii Food and Wine Fundraiser

    SAN RAFAEL, CA, August 10, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The "Invitation to Foodies" culinary event on September 4th will celebrate the work of Ka Lima O Maui, a Hawaii non-profit that helps disabled residents of Maui County through employment services.

"We chose to see the 'ability' in disability and encourage employers in the community to hire persons with disabilities because they are great workers and they will be with your company for a long time, not because it is a nice thing to do," says Chantal Ratte, Executive Director of Ka Lima O Maui.

Local Maui chefs Beverly Gannon, Ryan Luckey, James McDonald, Brian Etheridge, David Paul, Cameron Lewark, Theresa Shurilla and Marc McDowell will participate in panel discussions, culinary lectures, cooking demonstrations and a Grand Tasting of delicious gourmet island cuisine prepared especially for this event.

The Grand Tasting Day menu includes: Hapa Hapa Tempura - Tempura of Ahi and Ono with sea salad, lime basil sauce and miso sesame accent, Maui Gold pineapple caviar, Mushroom Truffle Risotto, sweet and sour glazed island fish in lettuce cups, Mongolian Baby Back Ribs, pineapple slaw, House Smoked Salmon, mango salsa and the menu goes on.

The host of the "Invitation To Foodies" culinary event is Liam Mayclem, a San Francisco Emmy award-winning host and producer for San Francisco CBS 5 TV's "Eye on the Bay."

Liam has cooked and eaten with the world's most celebrated chefs: Hubert Keller, Jamie Oliver, Marcus Samuelson, Roland Passot, Tyler Florence, Elizabeth Falkner and many more.
