The 2011 event series has been running since February and will enter its fourth phase in Medewi on September 11th, inviting junior surfers - also known as grommets - to show off their skills.
 
A total of 64 male and female participants - split equally between the under-16s and under-14s groups - are set to compete for a spot in the national final in Kuta in October, while the international final takes place in Australia the following March.
 
Entrants will be offered special goodie bags and merchandise, while games and quizzes will also take place to create a fun atmosphere and stimulate wider interest in surfing.
 
The Bali leg of last year's Rip Curl GromSearch was attended by more than 70 boys and girls, the youngest of whom was only ten years old.
 
Past winners of the contest include current pros such as Stephanie Gilmore, Ben Dunn, Mason Ho and Matt Wilkinson.
