BARCELONA, SPAIN, August 19, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- American soul singer Aloe Blacc will be among the star performers at next month's BAM Festival in Barcelona.
Taking place from Thursday September 22nd to Saturday September 24th at outdoor venues around the Catalan capital, the free event forms part of the city's annual Merce celebrations.
Blacc - real name Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III - has enjoyed major chart success this year with his single I Need a Dollar.
The song, which appears on the artist's second studio album Good Things, grew in popularity after featuring on the HBO series How to Make It in America and reached the top ten in many countries.
Other acts due to appear at BAM include French indie duo Herman Dune, dubstep producer Zomby and acclaimed British jazz group Portico Quartet, who were nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2008.
La Merce is a lively carnival that takes place in Barcelona every year in honour of the city's patron saint.
It traditionally features a spectacular correfoc, or fire run, during which fireworks are set off by individuals dressed as devils.
People attending the festival will find a diverse range of cheap hotels in Barcelona at LateRooms.com, which recommends the Hotel Barbara Barcelona.
