NEW YORK, NY, August 19, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cynthia Scott will perform "I Have A Dream" written by her late brother-in-law, the Rev. Clinton Levert, Jr., on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 6:15 PM at the Walter E. Convention Center in Washington. She will perform additional songs reflecting the teachings of Dr. King that were recorded on Ms. Scott's latest all-original CD - "Dream For One Bright World". Scott says, "The songs I am performing address Dr. King's dream. It is an honor to participate in helping to keep the dream alive."

"The dedication of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial has been long-awaited, and people from around the world are coming to experience this . . . historic moment," said Harry E. Johnson, Sr., president of the Washington, D.C., Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation. "We are excited to welcome them all. Five days of festivities will be featured leading up to the dedication The Memorial, the first on the National Mall to honor a man of peace, hope, and color, will be dedicated on August 28 in a West Potomac Park ceremony on the 48th anniversary of the March on Washington and Dr. King's historic "I Have a Dream" speech.
Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Berry Gordy, Jr., George Lucas, Jamie Foxx and Clarence Avant will serve as celebrity co- chairs . The Rev. Al Sharpton, former secretary of state Colin L. Powell, TV broadcaster Tom Brokaw and writer Maya Angelou are among those who will also participate, the foundation said.
President Obama will deliver remarks at the Aug. 28 dedication.

About Cynthia Scott:
Cynthia Scott has performed for audiences from New York to Africa, Europe and Asia and has worked with musicians including Wynton Marsalis and Ray Charles, who discovered her. She's performed at The Kennedy Center, served as a 2004 Jazz Ambassador in conjunction with The Kennedy Center and The State Department. Scott was the first to sing and test the new Rose Room at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City.
Scott has self- produced five CDs. "Dream For One Bright World" is her first completely original album. Plans for her next project, "One Raelette's Journey", are in the works. It is a one woman show that is a play, musical and performance piece based on her journey as a backup singer with Ray Charles.
