TAMPA, FL, August 23, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Parking Authority of the Borough of Fort Lee, NJ is launching RingGo Pay by Cell Phone service on August 23, 2011. This new technology, serves commuters working in Fort Lee and those crossing the George Washington Bridge into New York City.
RingGo's state-of-the-art system will make paying for parking far more convenient for Fort Lee's customers. Instead of hunting for quarters or standing in the cold, snow-covered streets to insert coins or a credit card in a pay station, drivers simply dial the access phone number from their cell phones -- in the comfort and safety of their vehicle.
For already registered users, the system will immediately recognize the cell phone number and ask for the posted location and space number and the desired amount of parking time. The entire transaction is complete within 30 seconds.
Motorists who are not pre-registered will be able to register during their first use of the service, right from their cell phone, which will take about three to four minutes. However, to make first time use even faster and efficient, motorists can pre-register by visiting www.MyRingGo.com, where they will be asked to provide some basic information including their cell phone number, license tag number and credit or debit card information to pay for future parking.
Some of RingGo's most innovative features happen later on in the parking process. Motorists may opt to receive a text message reminder 10 minutes before their time expires thereby avoiding parking citations. They can also add more time to their parking sessions remotely -- right from their cell phone wherever they are: on the bus, in a restaurant, at their office, or miles away in Manhattan. There is no longer any reason to incur the cost and hassle of a parking ticket for going over time.
While there is a $..25 convenience fee for using the Pay By Cell Service, the Borough of Fort Lee does not receive any additional revenue from offering this service, but is doing so as a convenience to their motorists and to support the modernization and vitality of the Fort Lee Parking System. Kay Nest, Chairwoman of the Fort Lee Parking Authority explained "we are committed to delivering services and greater convenience for the way people live their lives today -- not 20 or 50 years ago -- and cell phones and digital applications and emerging technologies are a big part of that."
"This service will greatly improve the parking experience for our commuters," said Gloria Gallo, Fort Lee Parking Authority's Administrator. "People, especially young people and working professionals, already transact most of their business on their cell phones, so this service is a natural for most of our commuters. Plus RingGo remembers where you parked yesterday so the time to pay for today's parking is now less than 10 seconds."
Signage, with Fort Lee's Pay by Cell Phone access number and usage instructions is being installed at the lot and directly on the pay stations. By visiting www.MyRingGo.com, along with pre-registering, drivers can get receipts, view transaction histories, manage their accounts and download tools. All of the services of MyRingGo customer account management can also be performed from any mobile web device. This allows customers to make account changes, add additional vehicles or change their payment methods while on the move. Once registered, customers can use the RingGo service anywhere it is offered, worldwide.
While the RingGo Pay by Cell Service works with any cell phone, there are additional tools for those with Smartphones and other mobile devices. The RingGo iPhone app is available from iTunes and the iPad apps store and the RingGo Android app is available from the Android App Market. For more advanced users, the RingGo signs in the lot also include QR codes which give users direct access to the app download pages via their phone barcode scanner.
With apps and mobile web capability, customers can pay for parking or add time to a meter without even making a phone call, which is a very handy feature during meetings or in noisy environments.
Fort Lee hopes to expand RingGo's service to all Borough parking in the near future. "Many or our client municipalities are using RingGo not only to create a more seamless parking experience for their customers but perhaps more importantly, to update outdated legacy parking meters and systems without capital expenditures," said Amie Devero, Managing Director of RingGo. "Hardly any city is in a position to spend additional funds in today's budget-strapped economy. RingGo allows cities to 'leap-frog' over solutions requiring machinery, installation and expensive maintenance and go directly to a fully virtual system that is green, efficient and totally modern."
