The event is expected to attract approximately US$200 million in FDI in the upcoming months, due to the interest of various large-scale investment projects.

During its inauguration, presided by the Vice President of Nicaragua, Jaime Morales Carazo; the Presidential Delegate for Investment, General Alvaro Baltodano; and the President of COSEP, Jose Adan Aguerri, a total of 110 foreign executives from 70 different companies participated, as well as over 100 Nicaraguan investors, evidencing the excellent turnout of the event and exceeding the agency's expectations.

"Today we are sending a message to the world that Nicaragua is a country that welcomes foreign investors," commented Carlos Pellas, President of Grupo Pellas and one of the most influential businessmen in the country, during the event's inauguration.

The President of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega Saavedra, was also present in the forum during the signing of an agreement between the Government and the Brazilian company Andrade Gutierrez to begin prefeasibility studies for the construction of a modern deep-water port in the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua.

"Foreign investors were able to witness the joint efforts of the government and the private sector to continuously promote world-class FDI projects and foster a favorable business climate necessary for investors," commented General Baltodano.

The second day of the forum included sector-specific programs which featured presentations on investment incentives, offshoring guidelines, latest industry trends, financing options and the country's most profitable investment opportunities.
