ROME, ITALY, September 04, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Antony and the Johnsons will be accompanied by a live orchestra at their forthcoming show in Rome.
The acclaimed group, based in New York and fronted by enigmatic singer-songwriter Antony Hegarty, are due to perform at the Italian capital's Auditorium Parco della Musica on Monday October 3rd.
In a statement on their website, the band said the concert will feature arrangements by Antony and the Johnsons and classical composer Nico Muhly.
Muhly has collaborated with the group on several occasions, contributing orchestral arrangements to their 2009 album The Crying Light and its 2010 follow-up Swanlights.
The Rome show, which is one of just two orchestral performances the band have scheduled in Italy, will give fans a chance to enjoy the group's atmospheric music and the unique voice of their lead singer.
Hegarty rose to prominence with the release of the second Antony and the Johnsons album, I Am a Bird Now.
The LP, which featured guest vocals from the likes of Lou Reed and Rufus Wainwright, received rave reviews and won the 2005 Mercury Prize.
Tickets for the Rome concert are available online, priced between EUR45 and EUR70 (GBP39.80 and GBP61.90).
