Filemobile Debuts New and Improved Citizen Journalism Product

Toronto-based software maker Filemobile Inc. (www.filemobile.com) introduces series of producer-friendly features to its user-generated content management platform Media Factory 3.0

TORONTO, ON, September 15, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Filemobile, Inc. (www.filemobile.com), one of Canada's leading developers of interactive online software, is proud to announce major enhancements to its industry-leading citizen journalism software module--a key component of the firm's flagship Media Factory 3.0 platform.

The new citizen journalism innovations are designed to streamline user workflow, improve navigation and provide powerful new management features. These enhancements offer greater integration with automated broadcast systems, allowing for the efficient and effective upload and broadcast of user-generated content from any digital format.

Citizen journalism--the capturing and collection of stories by the public--has grown rapidly for news events ranging from social uprisings, public demonstrations, weather events, crime stories and more. Citizen journalism is changing the way traditional media outlets cover the news. From this year's Arab Spring uprisings to the recent London riots, citizen journalism is playing an increasingly important role in shaping everything from social movements to law enforcement.

"Citizen journalism is a growing force in the media and a major focus of our growth strategy," said Filemobile chief creative officer Steve Hulford. "These enhanced features were developed in close consultation with media clients who share a similar concern: getting user-generated news stories on the air or on their websites fast. Media Factory 3.0's citizen journalism module allows them to do exactly that."

Filemobile is a leader on the citizen journalism front, providing user-generated content management tools to a number of major U.S. and Canadian media outlets including Fox News, CBC, CP24 CTV, Global TV, and The Weather Network.

Enhancements to the Media Factory 3.0 citizen journalism module include:

--Improved community and media management, enhanced searching and sorting, creation of member groups and events, and the extension of all features to mobile and tablet applications. These features allow clients to track and manage communities and identify what content and users drive the engagement.

--New moderation features to improve workflow and minimize clicks and page loads. Moderators can mouse over thumbnails to immediately view images and video players for one-click moderation.

--Improved rich media production allowing producers to crop images, add watermarks and choose thumb images for videos in galleries.

--Enhanced owner and location functionality allowing producers to manipulate and geo-tag media and members for use on maps for external websites, mobile and tablet applications.
