NEW YORK, NY, September 23, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Leslie E. Robertson, Director of Design for LERA R.L.L.P, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership, and excellence in structural design.
For more than half a century, Mr. Robertson has been a leader in the design of tall buildings, domes, bridges and long-span roofs. As director of design for a well-known consulting engineering firm, he works on an individual basis with engineers, and is currently designing several buildings taller than 1800 feet. Throughout his long career, Mr. Robertson has set new standards in the design and construction of tall buildings, pioneered the use of computers in structural design, and made numerous artistic and scientific contributions to the field of structural engineering. Mr. Robertson is responsible for the structural design and construction of three of the world's tallest buildings and of hundreds of other buildings and structures around the world. His most well-known buildings include the Shanghai World Financial Center, Shanghai, China; the World Trade Center, New York, N.Y.; United States Steel Headquarters, Pittsburgh, Pa.; Bank of China Tower, Hong Kong; Puerta de Europa, Madrid, Spain; Museum of Islamic Art, Doha, Qatar, and Miho Museum Bridge in Japan. The holder of three patents and author of more than 700 published papers on structural, earthquake, and wind engineering, Mr. Robertson has also contributed to his profession by teaching at Princeton University and serving on several boards of major universities.
Mr. Robertson earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and general engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He holds accreditations as a structural engineer and civil engineer in the state of California and as a professional engineer in the state of New York, and is recognized as licensed and eligible in all 50 states as a both a professional engineer and civil engineer. He is also credentialed as a First Class Architect and Professional Engineer in Japan and a Chartered Structural Engineer in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Mr. Robertson's many honors include being selected as one of the 125 Top People of the Past 125 Years by the Engineering News-Record, receiving four honorary doctoral degrees, and winning the first Henry C. Turner Prize awarded by the National Building Museum and Turner Construction Company. Mr. Robertson has also garnered an Outstanding Projects and Leaders (OPAL) Award from the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Gengo Matsui Prize, and the 2011 International Award of Merit in Structural Engineering from the IABSE. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineers and is a Distinguished Member of ASCE.
