SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 30, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- This month, Mullin Automotive Museum in Southern California launched a Guide by Cell-powered cell phone audio tour, which allows visitors to dial a designated local phone number on their cell phones and listen to prerecorded audio messages from curator Andrew Riley, and Peter Mullin, the museum's owner and founding director.
The audio tour includes a welcome message from Mullin and his personal commentary about specific cars in the world-renowned collection, his philosophy of stewardship, and how he first became interested in cars and car collecting.
The Museum houses 150 classic, pre-World War II French Grand Touring cars, with 50 cars on the floor at any given time. Some of the audio content is recorded straight from the guided curator tour, so visitors can still access this information using their cell phones if they have limited time, missed the beginning of the tour, or simply prefer to view the collection at their own leisure and pace. Visitors can access the tour in any order they wish by dialing a phone number and selecting from various prompts for more information.
"Guide by Cell gives our guests an opportunity listen to remarks about the museum and the magnificent cars and art pieces in the collection," said Steve Mullin, Lead Docent at Mullin Automotive Museum. "Often these are from informal recordings by Peter Mullin and give the listener a sense of being on their own private tour led by an internationally renowned collector. Guide by Cell has been a significant addition to our guest services program."
The audio tour launched in September and is available during museum opening hours, two Saturdays a month. Audio tour content will be updated as cars rotate in and out of display.
