DEVON, ENGLAND, October 08, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The 2011 Torbay Poetry Festival should appeal to people hoping to soak up some culture during a stay in Devon.
Returning for its 11th edition this year, the popular literary event is due to run from Thursday October 20th to Monday October 24th.
The festival programme boasts a series of workshops for aspiring poets, as well as a poetry quiz to test the most attentive readers and an open mic session for those who would like to read some verse in public.
As usual, the winner of the festival's annual poetry competition will also be announced during the five-day event.
Duncan Forbes, a poet whose work has been published by Faber and who has appeared twice before at the festival, has agreed to be the judge for 2011.
Forbes is also set to lead a workshop entitled Drawing from Life, which will explore the use of experience to create personal poems, on Sunday October 23rd.
Another highlight of this year's programme is Poet to Poet, a daily event that will feature two poets in conversation about their work and poetry in general.
Festival events are individually priced and tickets can be purchased online. Some features of the programme, such as Poet to Poet, will be free of charge.
