HIA-LI Presents 3rd Annual Environmental and Energy Conference Focuses on New Economic Initiatives for Long Island

    HAUPPAUGE, NY, October 18, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In an effort to promote green energy for the industrial and commercial sectors of Long Island, the HIA-LI 3rd Annual Environmental and Energy Conference will bring attention to New York State Governor Cuomo's recently-formed Long Island Regional Economic Development Council. The event will bring government and business leaders together to discuss how to identify, develop and capitalize on highly-profitable Clean Tech products and services, leverage natural resources, and create job opportunities statewide. The HIA-LI Environmental and Energy Conference will feature morning seminar tracks on LEED/Green Buildings, Financing & Incentives, Energy Benchmarking/Evaluation, and Solar Energy. Afternoon seminar tracks will address Sustainability, Green Jobs, Green Applications, and Supply Chain.

The day includes an Executive Breakfast, Breakout Seminars, an Executive Luncheon, and Exhibition Hall.

The Executive Breakfast will feature a panel discussing Green Regional Development Projects. The panel will be moderated by Eric Alexander, Executive Director, Vision Long Island. Panelists include: David Schieren, CEO, EmPower Solar; Neal Lewis, ESQ., Sustainability Institute at Molloy College; Russell Albanese, President, Albanese Development Corp. (invited); Sammy Chu, USGBC-LI Board Member and Program Director of the Long Island Green Homes Project for the Town of Babylon; and Jack Kulka, PE LEED AP, CEO, Kulka Construction.

The Executive Luncheon will include a keynote address by Kevin Law, President of the Long Island Association, who will provide an overview of the Regional Economic Development Councils, why they will continue to grow in importance, and how the Clean Tech community can continually benefit from this new Economic Development Model launched by the Governor.

The luncheon will also feature a panel discussion moderated by David Winchester, CEO, CleanTech Rocks and Vice Chairman of the Board, HIA-LI. Panelists include: Regional Council Member Carrie Meek Gallagher, Chief Sustainability Officer, Suffolk County Water Authority and Long Island Energy Leader Richie Kessel, Past President and CEO of the New York Power Authority, Long Island Power Authority.
