BALA CYNWYD, PA, October 22, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Braverman Center for Health Journeys will celebrate their official opening on November 1, 2011. The Center specializes in medical health management, infertility counseling, third party reproduction and diabetes care.
The Braverman Center offers a comprehensive program of support and education, helping individuals make better decisions, tolerate treatment better, develop good coping strategies and understand the course they will need to navigate. Being healthy involves the body, mind and emotions.A medical diagnosis is often scary and can overwhelm the strongest individual. No matter how overpowering a diagnosis may feel the journey can be made easier with a little extra support and a safe place to explore feelings and learn new ways to cope. Often referred to as "the missing link", the Braverman Center for Health Journeys seeks to bridge the gap between a medical diagnosis and the emotional adjustments necessary to manage life.
"We employ an active, short-term, problem-solving therapy that provides individuals and couples with useful techniques to make wanted and positive changes in their lives. This approach involves collaboration between client and therapist with the aim of attaining personal treatment goals. There is no one size fits all. We do not focus on the past, but rather analyze a problem in order to change the circumstances that contribute to it. This goal-oriented therapy approach focuses on the strengths that individuals or couples bring and then builds upon these assets. The core focus of the Center is to help find a comfortable way to integrate medical diagnosis into your life, not let the diagnosis take over your life."
Andrea Braverman, PhD, Founder and Director of the Center, is a renowned health psychologist who has been at the forefront of the development of integrated diabetes care, working with the medical team as well as engaging emotional and behavioral strategies.
Braverman is a pioneer in infertility psychology, lecturing and teaching across the globe for both professional and patient audiences. While Dr. Braverman's expertise has taken her around the world, her real passion is for working with individuals and couples and guiding them through the process of psychologically coping and managing their medical diagnosis.
Dr. Braverman is the 2011 recipient of the Timothy Jeffrey Memorial Award for Outstanding Contributions to Clinical Health Psychology from the American Psychological Association Division of Health Psychology.
In addition to counseling services, the Braverman Center for Health Journeys will offer support groups, seminars and workshops.
