BROCKPORT, NY, November 16, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Vanessa E. Junor, Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lakeside Memorial Hospital, was recently named a VIP member of Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in women's health care.

A growing skill set has allowed Dr. Junor to flourish as a women's health care professional, and her nurturing and compassionate nature has prompted patients to trust in her when seeking a reliable women's health specialist. Always ready to pitch in and lend a hand, Dr. Junor has garnered a reputation among her patients and professional peers for being trustworthy, dedicated and collegial, and for truly caring about the well-being of those she sees.

A respected specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Junor marks her fourth year as OB-GYN chief at Lakeside Memorial Hospital and approaching six years in practice. She performs a combination of clinical and managerial duties in this capacity, including overseeing office and departmental staff, working in the operating room three days a week and teaching medical students. Dr. Junor discovered her calling in women's health care while doing rotations in medical school, and considers introducing future doctors to the diversity of obstetrics and gynecology to be the most enjoyable aspect of her work. She attributes her success to putting her patients' safety and comfort above all else. Over the course of her career, she has found that maintaining a spirit of calmness in the fast-paced medical environment and during emergencies keeps staff and patients at ease, and allows for better focus, flow, and thus a most favorable outcome of events.

Throughout her career, Dr. Junor has delved into many aspects of women's health care. One of the many facets that she has come to enjoy is performing surgical procedures, and another component of her work that she finds joy in is delivering babies. By remaining committed to making valuable contributions to her field, she has helped many of her patients and colleagues by enlightening and informing them of developments made in women's health. She hopes to provide medical care who those who really need it, and hopes that it truly becomes more accessible to most. She served as the Department Chair at Lakeside, and she feels that this opportunity afforded her the chance to serve as an advocate for not only the staff, but for patients. She was able to have an effect on changes which, in turn, provided safe medical care to the community, no matter how small.

Dr. Junor received a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000 from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her education allowed her to not only thrive as a knowledgeable and erudite medical professional, but to learn to do no harm; she is now an advocate for patient safety that endeavors to remain up to date and provide the same care that she would like to receive. She also learned the ultimate value of patient education, and that it can be extremely effective and make a huge difference in people's lives. Her professional affiliations include the Medical Society of the State of New York, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, American Osteopathic Association, American College of Physician Executives, American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and American Medical Association. She is a supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Open Door Mission. In the near future, Dr. Junor intends to continue offering top of the line care to patients, and looking at them as a whole when it comes to management, as they certainly notice the difference. Her long term goals include aligning with like-minded women's health care providers.
