    LONDON, ENGLAND, November 18, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- From its humble beginnings 35 years ago, the annual Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge has become recognised internationally as New Zealand's premier bicycle race. Back in 1977, just twenty-six local cyclists took part. Now over ten thousand pedal-pushers, from around the world and New Zealand, tackle the 160km round course. With the challenge set to take place again later this month (Saturday 26th November), DialAFlight, one of the UK's leading travel operators, are delighted to be offering cheap flights to New Zealand throughout November.

Such a high-calibre event could easily be perceived as 'elite only'- after-all the challenge is recognised by the UCI as one of the world's top six rides. However, keen cyclists should not feel perturbed. Despite attracting both professional and elite riders, an over-riding community sprit still presides; meaning cyclists of varying abilities and fitness levels can proudly take part in the race.

Whether entrants plan to cycle for fun or competitively; in tandem or individually, there are twelve separate events set to take place on the day, each designed to test the endurance and skill of riders. Probably the most testing is the mammoth 'Extreme Enduro' event, which will see riders tackle eight whole laps around the lake. Thankfully not all challenges are this gruelling.

Children are also encouraged to take part. The @Heart event challenges children under the age of ten to tackle a fun 5km route- a popular option, especially with families.
