/24-7PressRelease/ - RICHMOND, VA, February 25, 2007 - Engedi Technologies, Inc announces award of a patent for their network management appliance. The patent covers techniques to provide strong security and robust communication during the remote management of the network infrastructure. The patented technology marks a significant advancement over remote management techniques employed today by many networks that are not secure in authentication or have created long lists of passwords known to many present and past employees and consultants. The patent issued to Engedi addresses these concerns. The patent lays the groundwork for network management appliances that provide better security for the network and lessen the expense of network management.
The Engedi patent provides for a computer network management system with an embedded processor, an analog communication means and a digital interface for network management and provides a system for remotely and securely managing a network. Backup power in the form of an uninterrupted power supply, or other power means as appropriate, allows the modem to provide power outage notification to a remote site. The system further provides authentication and authorization capabilities for security purposes.
Engedi developed a product called the Key2 Secure Remote Management appliance (SRMa) based upon the patent to meet the need during network management for highly secure, multi-pathed communication with remote devices. The Key2 SRMa product is for network administrators who need to quickly and securely access and manage network devices at remote sites. Those remote sites can be many hundreds or thousands of miles away. The patented capabilities make the Key2 Secure Remote Management appliance the easiest solution for remote network management without creating long lists of passwords known to too many present and past employees or network consultants.
"We are excited to have this first patent issue for our secure remote network management appliance. It is the beginning of a series of our patent filings that address advanced architectures for the management and control of distributed networks. This fills an empty spot in the network", said Mr. Craig Palmore, Director, Business Development for Engedi Technologies. "Network products are evolving toward greater levels of security to control access and infrastructure management. This patent represents a significant development for network administrators as we bring to market products to deliver very secure remote network management capabilities. Our products are built to meet the needs of network administrators."
The inventor is Mr. Jeff Carley, a company co-founder, a highly credentialed network administrator and a network engineer with over 20 years experience in the operation of large distributed networks. "The genesis of the ideas underpinning the patent sprang from my many years of operating large distributed networks and seeing what I and my colleagues needed but were unable to get from the marketplace. I knew what network administrators needed to see and to have in the next generation of remote network management devices. I developed the techniques and methods of the patent to meet those market needs. It is a pleasure to see this patent issue. There is more to come from our other patent filings and I think network administrators will be relieved and will appreciate the features of the products we are bringing to market based upon this patent and the others to follow." Mr. Carley has a number of prior patents issued based upon his network technology insights and novel ideas.
