FREDERIKSBERG, DENMARK, December 16, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- BY MALENE BIRGER took the business to another level with the opening of the BY MALENE BIRGER Webshop. An initiative made in response to the amazing popularity of the brand and requests by countless customers for an opportunity to shop online. Since the launch of the eShop, the number of online shoppers has been enormous, with sales from the first collection sold online surpassing all predictions. This confirms an accelerating demand for the brand worldwide, indicating that online sales will be an important growth factor in the future.
THE BOUTIQUES
The first BY MALENE BIRGER boutique in Great Britain, which opened in London on Marylebone Street in March 2010, has not only become a model for our future boutiques. It has become the inspiration for the international branding and shopping experience of our design universe. But that's not all. Two new boutiques have opened since then. One in Malmo, Sweden and another in Moscow, at an exclusive shopping centre called The Las Vegas Mall, surrounded by other major high-end fashion brand boutiques. To keep the momentum of this massive expansion are new boutiques opening in Benelux, Russia and Greece within the next year. Find details about all the BY MALENE BIRGER boutiques.
THE BOOK
The launch of Ms Birger's coffee table book entitled "LIFE AND WORK - Malene Birger's Life in Pictures" received rave reviews. In part because specially invited customers and the press literally lined up for hours to receive a copy signed personally by Ms Birger. The VIP event was held during Copenhagen Fashion Week on the 12th of August 2010, followed by an exclusive event in Berlin at the distinguished department store Quartier 206, and at the cool specialist shop Potterton Books London. The book is an amazing photo expose of Ms Birger's talent for designing the interiors of her various homes in Spain and Scandinavia. The media coverage in the Danish and international press has been overwhelming, with book sales already exceeding all expectations.
THE GLOBAL EXPOSURE
The international press turned out in force for the impactful BY MALENE BIRGER Spring / Summer 2011 fashion show - THE WOMAN. Followed by a seductive series of campaign photos featured in prominent, high profile magazines such as VOGUE in France, Germany and the UK, as well as ELLE in Holland, France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. In addition to top-notch Scandinavian magazines like Eurowoman, Cover and Costume Magazine in Norway and Denmark.
International celebrities continue to be drawn to the brand. Kylie Minogue, Elle Macpherson and Charlotte Gainsbourg have all been caught off camera wearing BY MALENE BIRGER. Add to that Naomi Campbell, Rachel Weisz and Nicole Richie, who have been chosen by VS Magazine to model BY MALENE BIRGER outfits for their recent fashion features. All this media attention, exposure and success are the result of concentrated efforts with local PR agents. A newly established collaboration in Norway and similar developments planned in Spain and Russia are expected to accelerate media coverage even more. Other PR initiatives include a private press lunch last November in Stockholm with selected journalists.
THE CHARITIES
As a specially appointed UNICEF Ambassador since 2004, Ms Birger is intensely committed to helping children around the world achieve a better future. So far, BY MALENE BIRGER has donated over 3.5 million DKK to UNICEF. Her newest charity involves realizing a school project in Togo, Africa to enable young children to have access to an education. Closer to home, the number of children urgently seeking help is increasing. Hence the decision to support the Danish Children's Aid Foundation (BORNEHJAELPSDAGEN) with a permanent donation every year, giving children in foster care and institutions opportunities to enhance their self-esteem.
THE MAN
BY MALENE BIRGER presented the Autumn / Winter 2011 Collection "THE MAN" in February 2011 at a new venue that's more artistic and intimate. The Kunsthal Charlottenborg, which is part of the Ministry of Culture, is known for exhibiting contemporary, international visual forms of expressions which blur the borders between art, design and architecture.
