London Fashion Week Returns to London

    LONDON, ENGLAND, December 25, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- London is considered one of the world's four 'fashion capitals,' along with Milan, New York, and Paris. Each of the four cities has fashion weeks each year to highlight certain designers and build buzz around competing fashion trends. In London, the Fashion Week is held twice per year, once in February and once in September.

One much-anticipated presentation at this February's London Fashion Week will be the McQ label. The house of Alexander McQueen recently announced it would be participating in the London Fashion Week for the first time. The McQ label features the latest in hip, youth-oriented fashion designs. Currently, the label is overseen by Sarah Burton, famous for designing the recent royal wedding dress.

Another presenter fashion fans are looking forward to is Stella McCartney. McCartney, daughter of the famous Beatle Sir Paul McCartney, is a well-known name in the London fashion scene, but she hasn't had a catwalk presentation at the London Fashion Week in 16 years. Stella has won numerous awards including: two different "Best Designer of the Year" awards in 2007; a Green Designer of the Year in 2008; and in 2009 she was named "Woman of the Year" by Glamour magazine. Her return to the London Fashion Week may nearly eclipse the first showing of the McQ label.

While some fashion journalists busy themselves writing about McQ and McCartney, others have their attention turned towards Victoria Beckham. Recent winner of the Designer Brand of the Year at the British Fashion Awards, Victoria Beckham is rumoured to be considering the idea of presenting at the London Fashion Week herself.
