SOME THINGS HAVE A WAY OF GETTING PERSONAL...

    /24-7PressRelease/ - LEWISVILLE, TX, March 10, 2007 - Kathy Morris, a young professional woman from Mesquite, Texas has a passion. A few years ago she started running marathons and other events to raise money for cancer research. In the past two years, her dedication, drive, and determination has raised over $5,800 to help find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and other blood related cancers.

But this April when she dives in the water to start a one and a half mile swim as the first part of the 3 stage "Iron-man" competition... the competition and her personal goals will take on a whole new meaning. Last month, Kathy's younger sister was diagnosed with cervical cancer, and she is now undergoing chemotherapy.

This will be Kathy's first attempt at the "Half Iron-Man" competition. This event consists of a one and a half mile swim... approximately the equivalent of swimming 250 laps in the average back yard pool. The second stage is a 56 mile bicycle race, and then ending with a 13.1 mile run.

The event, "The Lone-Star Triathlon", will take place April 1st, on historic Galveston Island where the Festival begins and ends at Moody Gardens. The swim takes place in the protected Offat's Bayou, off the wonderful white sand of Palm Beach. Participants will then enjoy a spectacular flat, fast, looping bike course along the Gulf Coast Sea Wall, and an even flatter running course that loops back through Moody Gardens, past the towering glass pyramids housing a living rainforest, and back to the beach. There will be tons of live entertainment, cheering stations for families and friends, and volunteers will be on hand to make this an event to remember!

Each participant sets a donation goal for the event, and Kathy set hers at $2,600. With your help and support, I am sure we can do far better than that for Kathy and this wonderful cause.
