LARCHMONT, NY, January 06, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Clarke Auction kicks off the New Year with an exciting multi estate auction on Sunday, January 8th at 2 PM featuring some impressive Americana.
Unlike most other New York auction houses, Clarke likes to keep its auctions diversified and fresh. However, some auctions turn out to be theme based depending on particular estates acquired. Such is the case with Clarke's January 8th auction which coincides with Americana Month in New York City.
The auction features a Greenwich, CT estate laid dormant for 20 years which includes period furniture, clocks and art. One highlight is an important late 18th century bonnet top high boy raised on ball and claw feet. Also featured is an assortment of period tiger maple chests and stands, some early family portraits - of note, a pair of miniature portraits - as well as carpets, mirrors and a reverse painted banjo clock to round off this estate collection.
As usual, Clarke will keep the interest up with its selection of midcentury modern, including a Parzinger chaise, Kagan, Danish Modern, Evans and others.
2011 was a monster year for art at Clarke and the trend continues into the New Year with an eclectic collection including a Nicolai Simbari oil on canvas, an oil on board of a Nude by Israeli artist Michael Argov, a 1947 Charles Lapicque gouache, Still Lifes by Marian Bogusz and Nicolai Cikovsky, a beautiful portrait by American artist Gladys Smith Nelson as well as several early 19th century American portraits on canvas.
This sale, which is live online for our international customers via LiveAuctioneers.com, also includes Judaica, great sterling, arts & crafts pottery, carpets and lighting. This is a don't miss sale!
