/24-7PressRelease/ - GOTHENBURG, SWEDEN, March 20, 2007 - Just by enabling a software key, it is now possible to add 4 x E1 wayside channels to the 100 Mbps Ethernet connection, giving a combined communication rate of 108 Mbps. This function will, together with ACM, most probably be a success story.
The Adaptive Coding & Modulation (ACM) functionality can be activated, by enabling a specific software key. The ACM functionality adapts, with no errors in the payload, coding and modulation which maintains high network availability and enables the use of smaller antennas.
When combining Ethernet applications with circuit switched traffic, the most common customer requirement is to prioritize circuit switched traffic. However in a microwave radio link application, prioritization is not enough if the connection itself breaks due to bad propagation conditions such as heavy rain. This scenario is now history. The ACM-functionality maintains the connection in unfavourable weather conditions, and the prioritized circuit switched traffic will continuously be up, even though the Ethernet data rate will decrease momentarily.
"With this new functionality we are now able to approach customers with even higher demands than most of us in this market segment are used to. Operators building combined network infrastructures don't have to worry anymore. An IP and Ethernet based wireless broadband network of almost any kind can in the same backbone live together with a cellular network or a PABX to PABX connected network with a maintained quality of service", says Josef Seger, Director of Product Line Management at Allgon Microwave.
"As so many times before Allgon Microwave proves the skills of its development efforts. We are not only the pioneer of Ethernet point-to-point microwave systems and adaptive coding and modulation, we are also in the cutting edge position when it comes to sustained available critical applications. I'm very thrilled to be a part of this "leap frog" company, says Michael Woodcheke, President of Allgon Microwave.
