CARDIFF, WALES, January 20, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A new exhibition dedicated to images of Queen Elizabeth II will soon open its doors in Cardiff.
The show, entitled The Queen: Art and Image, collects 60 of the most striking visual representations of the British monarch from a variety of leading artists and photographers.
It is due to open at the National Museum Cardiff from Saturday February 4th as part of this year's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
As well as exploring how images of the Queen have changed with the times, the exhibition will look at her relationship with the people of Wales over the 60 years of her reign.
Highlights of the display include paintings by Lucian Freud and photography from Annie Leibovitz. The exhibition also includes unofficial portraits of the monarch from the likes of Gilbert and George, Andy Warhol and Gerhard Richter.
It is completely free to attend and will run at the Cathays Park attraction until Sunday April 29th.
The Queen will be only the second British monarch to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee, after Queen Victoria in 1897.
