WORCESTERSHIRE, ENGLAND, February 10, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- In recognition of the eighth annual LGBT month, equality and diversity training experts 360 Diversity have announced they will be joining in with the celebrations. In a month which marks the successes and achievements of the LGBT community, 360 Diversity is posting daily stories of support on their internal forums.
360 diversity is committed to promoting anti-discriminatory practice and equality training in the workplace, and is proud to be supporting LGBT friendly employers across the UK. The company is looking to encourage all employers to initiate gay-friendly practices, as they give staff the freedom to be themselves and contribute fully in the workplace.
Business Development Manager Stuart Bray says: "In this difficult financial climate we all want to ensure that money used for recruiting and retaining staff is well spent. Being a gay friendly employer sends the messages to your candidates and staff that they can be themselves and will be valued as an individual in your organisation."
Since 1997, the position of people in the LGBT community has improved no end as a result of changes in human rights legislation. The Equality Act was transformed in 2010 to include sexual orientation and gender reassignment amongst its protected characteristics.
These changes to equality and diversity legislation have long since changed peoples' perceptions of the LGBT community. People of all sexual orientations are now visible in the media - from soaps and documentaries, to MPs in Parliament.
360 Diversity is dedicated to encouraging employers to take an LGBT-friendly approach to hiring new candidates. Stuart continues:
"Attracting a wider pool of candidates for each position will enable your organisation to recruit the best people for the role, and having an inclusive workplace will help to keep them there."
The consultancy has all the tools organisations of all sizes will need to develop and improve a diversity strategy. 360 Diversity has recently launched consultancy and training to help make discrimination in the workplace on grounds of sexual orientation a thing of the past.
