/24-7PressRelease/ - ST PAUL, MN, March 28, 2007 - On Saturday, April 14, 2007, at 8:00 p.m., J.D. Steele, of the Steele Family, will put on a live concert to support the construction of an orphanage in Rwanda. J.D. Steele's performance will be part of a night of remembering both the Holocaust and the Rwandan Genocide and building hope for the future in Rwanda. The concert will be held at Temple Israel in Minneapolis. Prior to the concert a charity dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. The proceeds of the dinner and concert will go to Nibakure Children's Village (NCV), a Minnesota based charity, whose mission is to build an orphanage for the children of Rwanda. "Nibakure" means "let them grow, give them hope."

"April is the month for remembering both the Holocaust and the Rwandan genocide. It is also a month of growth and hope. While remembering those who suffered in the past, we are dedicated with the support of people like J.D. Steele and Temple Israel to build hope for the future", says Floriane Robins-Brown, Executive Director of NCV.

Tickets for the concert are $25 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster at http://www.ticketweb.com or by calling 866-468-3401. Tickets for the dinner and concert are $100 and can be purchased by e-mailing NCV at [email protected].

As a result of the 1994 genocide and the HIV/AIDS pandemic, Rwanda has the highest proportion of orphans and orphan-led households in the world. NCV's ultimate goal is to create a children's village that will be a home for 150 children of all backgrounds and ages between 8 to 18 years old. The village will consist of 15 "family" homes where children will be raised by "mothers" and "aunts" who are women that are not related to the children yet who are committed to their care. NCV will focus on the whole child's needs through on-site education, healthcare, counseling, and spiritual development.
