FUNDING FOR THE PROGRAM:
The CASH FOR CLUNKERS MICHIGAN or MICHIGAN CLUNKERS (CARS) program is a privately funded program that helps consumers buy a nicer, newer vehicle from a participating dealer when they trade in a "clunker" car, van, SUV or truck. The program is designed to energize the economy, boost auto sales and put safer vehicles on Michigan roadways. No local, state or federal tax dollars are being used to fund CASH FOR CLUNKERS.
ELIGIBILITY:
Any drivable vehicle is eligible regardless of the age, mileage or condition. Both domestic and imported vehicles are eligible for the program.
Consumers bring their vehicles, title, proof of registration and proof of insurance to the dealership. Consumers will receive a minimum trade-in value of $2,500 more than your current vehicle is worth towards any nicer, newer vehicle from a participating car dealer when they trade in their old vehicle and purchase a nicer, newer qualifying vehicle if all program requirements are met. The dealers are not reimbursed by any other government program or taxpayer-supported program. The vehicles traded in under the CASH program will be disposed of at the selling dealer's discretion.
