/24-7PressRelease/ - MADISON, WI - April 10, 2007 - In practice since 1981, Attorney Van Wagner (Chris) began developing his instincts through the lessons learned while growing up one of eleven children born to a middle class Irish Catholic New Jersey couple. He earned his law degree from Cornell Law School (New Jersey), where he served as the Law Review Editor. Upon graduation, he clerked for a federal district court judge (Honorable Dick Debevoise, D.N.J., 1981-1982). Chris honed his trial skills while trying more than fifty felony jury trials to verdict as a state prosecutor (Trenton, New Jersey), cases ranging from welfare fraud to sexual assault to homicide, and then handling several more felony jury trials as a federal prosecutor (in Madison, Wisconsin) prosecuting various federal conspiracy cases to verdict, as well.
Chris left government work in 1994, and since then he has exclusively devoted all of his professional time, effort, and energy to defending people accused (or convicted) of serious crimes and drunk driving offenses.
Attorney Van Wagner has been three times awarded the Martin Hanson Advocate's Prize, a statewide honor, for repeated trial victories in homicide cases, repeatedly voted Madison's Best Criminal Defense Lawyers, and awarded the "Warrior of the Year". Chris regularly appears as a criminal law commentator on Madison 3000, ABC News, Good Morning America, Court TV and The Today Show.
