COPIAGUE, NY, March 16, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Long Island Exchange Columnist Cognac Wellerlane attended the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City. The event lasted eight days from February 9th to the 16th. It attracted top models, designers, photographers, directors, and stylists.
An estimated one hundred thousand visitors gathered to view the garments of about eighty different designers. The runway shows took place at Lincoln Center and featured noteworthy designers such as Tommy Hilfiger Men's, Lacoste, DKNY, J. Crew, Vera Wang, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, and Ralph Lauren. It was sponsored by companies such as Mercedes-Benz, American Express, Maybelline New York, TRESemme, Diet Pepsi, and The New York Times.
Wellerlane spoke with recording artist Ashanti about her choice of fashion. The performer was wearing an ensemble from Falguni and Shane Peacock, a married team of designers. The designers showcased thirty-five garments in their collection including pieces with feathers, sequins, and tribal prints.
"I think it's amazing," spoke Ashanti of the collection, "it's innovating, edgy, and classy all at the same time."
When asked about what projects she was working on next, the singer spoke of a new song entitled "The Woman You Love" featuring Busta Rhymes. She also spoke of appearing on Good Morning America. Wellerlane commented on how well the artist looked among the rock n' roll and sexy glam fashions of the designers.
Wellerlane also spoke with designer Emilio Cavallini, who served champagne during the show and presented a short film on a twenty-foot screen. Designer Zang Toi told Wellerlane that his Fall 2012 collection is about glamour. His garments showcased sophistication, luxury, and extravagant details amidst winter white, ruby, red, and black color schemes.
Other celebrities interviewed included The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Melissa and Kathy, as well as a cast member from The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Wellerlane discovered that the television star had been an experienced model in New York City and had recently started a school for modeling. The New Jersey housewives were wearing designs from Farah Angsana.
"Lots of fun, lots of craziness," spoke Melissa of what's to come in the trendy reality series.
