/24-7PressRelease/ - KANATA, ON, CANADA, April 13, 2007 - TAGteach International is offering a seminar for professional certification of TAGteach instructors. Attendees will learn how to apply the TAGteach method and will receive standing as TAGteach certified teachers upon successful completion of the 2 -day program. The seminars will be held at Carolark, 600 Eagleson Road, Kanata (Ottawa) ON K2M 1H4.
TAGteachTM is Teaching with Acoustical Guidance, and is used for fast-track learning in athletes and students. The teacher or coach "tags" correct performance of skill elements with a click sound. The student's brain does not have to process corrections, emotions or translations while the body is trying to perform complicated movements. The TAG taught athlete learns to react to this "data" with lightning fast speed while building skills and confidence. The all-positive tools of TAGteach create a comfortable and secure learning environment for students and teachers of any discipline and any skill level. TAGteach has been used successfully with non-verbal learners, national level athletes and everything in between.
TAGteach has been used in many disciplines, including artistic gymnastics, Special Olympic rhythmic gymnastics, dance, soccer, volleyball, martial arts, speech pathology and in the academic classroom. "Tagging has taught my students to think for themselves", said Amy Roberts who teaches hearing-impaired kindergarten students. "The tagger is an innovative tool and it is reshaping the way I think about coaching. It helps me think outside the box and come up with solutions I would not have thought of before. TAGteach keeps it simple, fun and significantly increases the speed at which climbers develop new skills." Juan Rodriguez - Professional climbing instructor for Nike climbing gym
"TAGteach allows us to use positive reinforcement while teaching children diagnosed with autism. Preliminary research at ABC, Inc. has shown positive results using TAGteach. Utilizing ABA principles and TAG, communication, self-help, play, pre-academic, and gross and fine motor skills have increased. Some examples of skills taught to children with autism by ABC, Inc. using TAG include independent hand washing, accurate sign language skills, and vocal imitation lessons. In addition, to increasing positive skills, ABC, Inc. has also used TAG to decrease socially unacceptable behaviors (e.g., toe-walking)." Dr. Joseph Morrow and Brenda Terzich, MA - Cofounders of Applied Behavior Consultants, Inc.
"I believe TAGteach has tremendous potential in helping children with autism, particularly in helping parents manage the often difficult behaviors of these children. I am the parent of a 10-year old boy with severe autism who is non-verbal. Since learning about TAGteach approximately 1½ years ago, his behaviors have become much more manageable. I love using the TAG and have used it to teach my child to go on long walks, navigate through parking lots, go to the grocery store, fall asleep at night, and reduce verbal stimming." Martha Gabler - Level 1 TAGteacher
"Using Tagteach has been the most important career move I've ever made. I truly enjoy coaching again and my TAGtaught athletes have made tremendous strides and brought home a lot of gold medals. They exude confidence and are learning to take responsibility for their own training", said Theresa McKeon, coach at International Gymnastics in Matthews, NC
Abby Schnieder, a dance teacher from North Dakota, had this to say about the Tagteach seminar, "I loved everything about it. I'm all about teaching in a positive way and making the kids want to take part. TAGteach will be at my dance studio".
TAGteach certification will be of interest to teachers, coaches and adult students as well as parents of children with special needs who wish to use positive and precise teaching tools. The 2-day seminar will bring together coaches and teachers from many disciplines to learn from the founders of TAGteach in Ottawa ON on June 9-10, 2007.
