LONDON, ENGLAND, March 21, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The latest reed.co.uk Job Index is forecasting growth in the number of local jobs in the Midlands, as well as jobs in Leeds and Sheffield. Between January and February 2012, reed.co.uk has showed that the East Midlands had an increase of five index points, while Yorkshire and Humberside also saw an increase of five index points.
This growth has been helped by the news that proposals for a new business park at Redhill in Stafford are to be submitted in March, with Insider Media estimating that over 2,500 jobs are set to be created. The new GBP8.5 million compound will incorporate seven plots, and will be aimed at "high-quality" business development.
The site is being planned by the Staffordshire County Council, and is to be built on council land slightly to the north of the existing retail and Business Park. Subject to legal approval, work could begin on the site in September, with the council suggesting that the project could be completed by the spring of 2013.
Similarly, the Yorkshire economy has been significantly boosted by "business champions", or small firms with rapid growth potential.
All but two of Yorkshire and the Humber's local authorities have been ranked within the top 50% of councils for their proportion of "business champions". In Calderdale West Yorkshire, for instance, 13.5% of all businesses are classed as high-growth businesses. This equates to 1,524 out of 11,294 companies.
As a result, 8,200 private sector jobs have now been created in Yorkshire since 2010.
With more jobs becoming available in these regions, reed.co.uk advises all jobseekers to have an up to date CV and a well-written covering letter.
