NEW YORK, NY, March 24, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The International Exposition of Sculpture Objects and Functional Art (SOFA) celebrates its 15th anniversary in New York this year.
Running from Friday April 20th to Monday April 23rd at Manhattan's Park Avenue Armory, the annual event will once again promote the best in contemporary art and design.
However, a number of special features have been commissioned for the fair's 15th birthday.
New York architect and designer David Ling was brought in to transform the Park Avenue Armory into a work of art itself, with a huge cube of light set to float above the main exhibition hall.
"I based the concept on the Big Bang theory. It's about creation, re-creation and energy, the origin of the universe in the Big Bang," he explained.
A new floor layout for the show's 50 international participants was also overseen by Ling.
One-day admission to the exposition is priced at $25 (GBP15.70) and a four-day ticket costs $40.
The exhibition hall will be open between 11:00 and 19:00 local time on the Friday and Saturday. On Sunday it will close at 18:00, while the Monday opening hours run from 12:00 to 17:00.
LateRooms.com recommends a wide selection of New York hotels that could appeal to art and design enthusiasts, including the Intercontinental New York Barclay.
