Helen Martinez, PBVM, Psy.D., Named a VIP Member of Worldwide Who's Who for Excellence in Women's Counseling

    ST. JOHN'S, NL, CANADA, March 30, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Helen Martinez, PBVM, Psy.D., Psychologist of H Khalili Ph.D. & Associates, was recently named a VIP member by Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.

With five years of experience as a psychologist of H Khalili Ph.D. & Associates, Dr. Martinez works with military veterans and provides marriage counseling to struggling couples. She sees approximately five to seven patients a day and provides assessments and treatments in grief counseling, stress, depression, anxiety and work-related issues. Dr. Martinez was an educator for 25 years, having spent 10 years in the field of library learning resources and 15 years teaching at the high school level. She attributes her success to the support of her religious community, Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, having obtained a good educational background and collaborating with exceptional colleagues. She became involved in her profession as she has always had a strong desire to help others reach a sense of self-worth and well-being. She also noticed a shortage of psychologists in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Dr. Martinez received a Psy.D. from Immaculata University in 2003. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Advisory Board for Rare Birds of the NL Mental Health Association, the Atlantic Canada Formation Committee, the Canadian Psychological Association and the Association of Psychologists of Newfoundland and Labrador. In years to come, Dr. Martinez hopes to become a member of the Canadian Register of Providers of Psychology. She would like to become more qualified in the field of couples counseling via further education, as well as to conduct more research and publish additional articles.
