CLEARWATER, FL, April 04, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Clarity Services, Inc. announces the formation of its new fraud research team. The team is collaborating with the Identity Theft Resource Center and fraud researchers hired by Clarity Services to attack an ongoing problem in the non-prime credit industry.
In the financial industry, there are many people looking for ways to scam consumers and the companies that provide services to the non-prime consumer population. One example of these scams is fraudulent debt collectors representing themselves as legitimate debt collectors and trying to extort payments from the consumer when none are necessary.
"Non-prime consumers can be especially susceptible to this type of scam," says Tim Ranney, president of Clarity Services. "Whether they owe money or not, consumers may be intimidated enough to pay the scam artist," adds Ranney. "Another thing that isn't being considered or addressed is that these consumers, by virtue of the fact that a scam artist has their personal information, are victims of identity theft. This is why involving the Identity Theft Resource Center is so critical to addressing the problem."
The fraud research team will consist of representatives from Clarity Services and the ITRC and they will be using Clarity's advanced fraud technology to skim through breached data to discover similarities that could lead to the source of the data breach.
The Clarity Fraud Research Team will begin collaborating with the Identity Theft Resource Center immediately to research and attack the fraud problems that are identified. Mike Cook, executive vice president of field support and analytics will be heading up the efforts.
