BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND, April 06, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Classic musical The King and I is due to arrive at the Birmingham Hippodrome on Monday April 30th.
The new touring version of the much-loved Rodgers and Hammerstein production, developed by the Curve Theatre in Leicester, stars Ramon Tikaram as the King of Siam and Josefina Gabrielle as Anna.
Directed by Paul Kerryson, the show features lush costumes, spectacular dance routines and timeless songs such as Getting to Know You, I Whistle a Happy Tune and Hello, Young Lovers.
The King and I was first performed on Broadway in 1951 and has been enjoyed by billions of people across the world since then, with film versions appearing in 1956 and 1999.
It tells the story of a British governess brought to the court of Siam to tutor the king's children in the 1860s.
Advance tickets to see the musical in Birmingham can be purchased online, priced between GBP14.50 and GBP34.50.
The production will remain at the Hippodrome until Saturday May 5th, with evening performances taking place at 19:30 BST.
Matinee shows have been scheduled for 14:00 on the Wednesday and Thursday, and 14:30 on the Saturday.
