CHARLOTTE, NC, April 10, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Pharmaceutical Education and Research Institute (PERI) and PeerParty are pleased to announce the inaugural CME National Championship for the healthcare community. The Championship introduces a new approach to continuing education for healthcare practitioners - a fun, collaborative approach that rewards participants for learning and building their professional networks. This innovative approach employs a number of new techniques to challenge and reward participants, with the goal of positively affecting knowledge-sharing, learning and most importantly, improving patient outcomes.
"The greatest opportunity for continuing medical education in today's healthcare industry is in improving patient outcomes," said Judith K. Jones, MD, PhD, president of PERI. "This venture brings together the quality education and expert faculty that PERI is known for with the networking opportunities and engagement of the CME National Championship and PeerParty."
The CME National Championship will be open to physicians, nurses and physician assistants to fulfill their continuing education needs, and is designed to recognize and celebrate the "Smartest Artists" in medicine. Each Championship event will offer a maximum of 5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM, contests, individual and team peer-recognition awards, prizes and peer networking. The agenda remains consistent in each city in order to create a level playing field for all participants, and the season's highest individual scorer will be crowned as National Champion and awarded the $25,000 grand prize.
The program will be led by Pamela Bradt, MD, MPH, who generated unique content specifically for the CME National Championship program. Dr. Bradt earned her MD from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and her MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Texas. While serving as a faculty member at the University of Texas-Houston, Dr. Bradt co-authored a paper on teaching evidenced based medicine, and she incorporates these principles into her PeerParty presentations. Dr. Bradt then served as a Senior Medical Director at Abbott Laboratories for more than six years before leaving the industry to provide education and consulting services.
Dates for Boston, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Jacksonville, Northern California, Philadelphia, Seattle, Southern California and St. Louis will be announced in Q3 2012. The first rounds of the Championship will be held in the cities listed below.

"PeerParty was built on the philosophy that when you make education an enjoyable, rewarding experience, everyone wins," said Mike Lower, Proprietor of PeerParty. "Our mission is to bring the latest medical knowledge and tools to the healthcare community, and deliver them in an environment that is engaging and stimulating.
