DUBLIN, IRELAND, April 22, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Dublin Dance Festival returns to the Irish capital next month, offering a busy programme of performances, discussions and other special events.
Under the stewardship of new director Julia Carruthers for the first time this year, the festival will aim to showcase the best of the domestic dance scene and bring the finest international performers to Dublin theatres.
This highlight of the city's cultural calendar is due to run from Friday May 11th to Saturday May 26th, with two special works selected to open proceedings.
Body and Forgetting by Liz Roche explores themes of loss and separation using a cast of dancers who appear on stage and on film simultaneously, while The Wake features two soloists from the Royal Ballet performing alongside two traditional Irish musicians.
Carruthers has said the items contained in this year's festival programme are "sure to provoke new and different responses" among audience members.
She added: "We will share dance that can make you feel and imagine more intensely - this is dance revealing what it is to be alive."
A standard festival pass, which provides admittance to 12 performances over the two weeks, is priced at EUR220 (GBP181).
Dance lovers planning to book discount hotels for the event will find a variety of accommodation at LateRooms.com, which recommends the Maldron Hotel Smithfield.
