JUPITER, FL, April 28, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jupiter Outdoor Center is now accepting registrations for its summer program. Summer Paddle Camp 2012 runs from June 11 through August 17 and is open to children from 6-14 years of age. Activities include: kayaking, paddle boarding, surfing, snorkeling, skimming, fishing, visits to the River Center and eco-games.
This is JOC's 15th year of operations and the center is pleased to have the services of additional, experienced staff members. All staff members have a passion for watersports and the natural environment; senior counselors all have college degrees. Staff members include certified American Canoe Association instructors with lifeguard certification and first-aid skills, so parents can rest assured that their children will be in safe hands while at the camp.
"Jupiter Outdoor Center has been providing summer camps in Jupiter for 15 years, giving children outdoor skills that last a lifetime while allowing them to explore and learn about our natural environment and marine life," says camp director Rick Clegg. "Outdoor adventure camps teach children leadership, communication and core values, all while having fun!"
On a typical day at JOC's summer camp, children have a short paddling demonstration after which they can paddle by kayak or paddleboard to a choice of locations. Locations include: Jupiter Inlet Aquatic Preserve; Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Beach for swimming and manatee watching; Indian River for snorkel safaris; Sawfish Bay for identification of marine life and mangroves; the sandbar on the lower Loxahatchee River for frisbee and other throwing games and Jupiter River for paddle board and kayak games. Fridays are beach days for surfing and fishing.
Children can visit for a day for $50 or sign up all week for $225 (regular camp hours 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.). Extended hours to accommodate working parents are now available for just $275 a week (8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.).
