MACAU, May 06, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- One of Macau's most notable sporting events will make a return next month when the 2012 Macau International Dragon Boat Races are held.
Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre will be the venue for the prestigious competition, which takes place on June 16th, 17th and 23rd this year and is expected to attract thousands of high-calibre athletes to Macau.
Organised by the Sport Development Board and Macau China Dragon Boat Association, the event builds on the popularity of dragon boating in the area and has become larger in scale with each year's iteration.
Races for male and female competitors are both held as part of the competition, with teams from China dominating proceedings in recent years, though the Philippines national squad was able to claim the 500m men's crown in 2007.
Those looking to attend this year's event will find the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre at Lago Nam Van, with the venue offering 882 fixed seats and space for 2,500 temporary seats.
It opened in 2005 and also offers facilities for rowing and canoeing events.
A huge range of recommended Macau hotels is available to boating enthusiasts at AsiaRooms.com, such as the Sofitel Macau.
