Titanic Artifacts and Movie Props Thrill at Event Hosted by Ron Sturgeon and Linda Allen in Colleyville, Texas

Titanic-themed event featured period costumes and selected items from DFW Elite Toy Museum's collection.

COLLEYVILLE, TX, May 08, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- More than 300 attendees enjoyed a Titanic-themed event hosted by entrepreneur Ron Sturgeon and insurance agency owner Linda Allen to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the passenger ship in the icy waters of the North Atlantic. "People are fascinated by the story of the Titanic," said Ron Sturgeon. "The loss of the luxury liner has captivated a whole new generation because of James Cameron's epic movie about it."

An entrepreneur, business consultant, and avid collector, Sturgeon is also proprietor of DFW Elite Toy Museum and exhibited several Titanic items from the museum's collection at the party, including a crumb tray from the ship's first class dining room and the Marconi teletype machine that appeared in the movie.

"It was fun setting up the Titanic room and sharing period newspapers with front-page stories about the Titantic," said Rodney Ross, the curator of DFW Elite Toy Museum. One attendee of the party had a relative who was a Titanic survivor according to Ross.

Guests at the Titanic event received a beautiful invitation and information about a passenger whose fate they learned at the party. The event featured a period costume contest, and a photo booth to capture memories of the fun and a live band. "At the Colleyville residence that served as venue for the party, guests also delighted in the many antique toys from the museum's collection that were displayed in the two-story European-styled library room.
