SHERMAN OAKS, CA, May 10, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- After four screenings in Los Angeles, "Monday Morning" endeared many critics like Nick Leyland from "Movie Room Review" who said "Monday Morning is an eye opening film... a lot of things in this movie that will make your stomach turn, but maybe it will make you want to step up and do something about this problem in your own neighborhood".
But "Monday Morning" also seriously angered a few. One said, off the record, that although he thought the movie was "potent, powerful and creatively bold", his philosophical differences and strong aversion to some of the graphic scenes, caused him to "rebuke the movie as a whole".
Any movie that could have a polarizing affect on audiences could be risky for an exhibitor. Or maybe not. Greg Laemmle is giving "Monday Morning" a run with a world premiere starting on:
SATURDAY, 11am - MAY 19, 2012 at the Moncia 4-Plex, 1332 2nd ST, Santa Monica, CA 90401 (weekends).
"There's never been a more critical time to shine a light on homelessness" says Laemmle. Long a champion for independent filmmakers, Laemmle feels there's "an audience for a compelling film that reflects our political-socio-economic situation." Writer/director of "Monday Morning", Nat Christian, says of Greg Laemmle: "Greg basically said 'This movie deserves exposure, so let's give it a chance'."
From private viewings, other critics have also given "Monday Morning" kudos:
"Bold and haunting... Nat Christian amalgamates the elements of drama, thriller politics, social
commentary and magical realism" ... Avi Offer, NYC Movie Guru
"Complex and deep, and will leave viewers thinking" ...Caress Thirus, Film Monthly
"A Wonderful Life turned inside-out... powerful, often upsetting" ... James van Maanen, TrustMovies
"A timely film & a rarity in today's political climate"... Edward Yerke-Robins, last
"A powerful and engaging movie"... LA Councilman, Bill Rosendahl
"A truly inspiring and riveting film"... Booker Pearson of Upward Bound (Homeless Rehab Center)
Nat Christian, Cast and Greg Laemmle are available for - RADIO, TV, WEB, PRINT interviews.
ABOUT MONDAY MORNING - With a budget of 64.7k, using 140 actors and shot in L.A. and Minnesota the movie is about a right wing Minnesota radio host, running for U.S. Senate, goes to L.A., loses his memory and becomes homeless among L.A.'s hardcore homeless community. MONDAY MORNING was shot around SKID ROW during one of the heaviest rainfalls in L.A.'s recorded history.
