SAN DIEGO, CA, May 10, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jackson Design & Remodeling (JDR) - a San Diego-based design build firm and winner of three consecutive BBB Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics - is proud to announce the company has won a National Chrysalis award for the rustic modern remodel of a San Diego kitchen. One of the most prestigious awards programs in the country, this year's Chrysalis awards entries topped 400 in 16 categories.
JDR's remodel of a kitchen on the outskirts of La Jolla, Calif. is this year's "Best Kitchen" in the nation in the category Kitchens $75k - $100k. The remodeled kitchen combines the most appealing elements of rustic and modern aesthetics, which the Jackson Design & Remodeling team termed "rustic modern." The expansive new kitchen embraces an alliance of modern and rustic sensibilities. Warm wood tones act as an earthy foundation in the spacious, light filled room. Wood vinyl flooring is the ideal choice for a home with an active pet. A pantry wall in the old kitchen was removed to gain more space. The ceiling was opened up and beams were left exposed. An industrial-style lighting fixture over the dining table and the brushed metal chairs reflect a modern mood. The result is an extraordinary kitchen that reflects the clients love for entertaining and expresses their personal style.
"A National Chrysalis award is one of the most incredible, and difficult, industry awards to win," said Todd Jackson, President of Jackson Design and Remodeling. "To be recognized against a field of amazing projects from all over the country is a real honor. This kitchen was really a true team effort and I'd like to thank our amazing team of architects, project managers, designers, just everyone whose outstanding work is reflected in this kitchen."
Continuing to set new standards of professionalism, 81 remodeling companies from across the United States were named winners at the 18th annual Chrysalis Awards for Remodeling Excellence. The winning projects were selected from 420 entries. The entries were judged on overall design, the creative use of space and materials, and the degree to which the project enhanced the original structure. The 2012 awards were judged by Dan Gregory, Editor of Houseplans.com; Louis Joyner, Former building editor of Southern Living; and Sam Liberti, President of the American Institute of Building Design.
