RICHMOND, VA, May 14, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Annie Ready Coffey, Psy.D., RDT, Founder of Arts for Replenishment and Change, has been recognized by Worldwide Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in psychotherapy through the creative arts.
Dr. Coffey has 24 years of experience in psychotherapy and founded her solo private practice, Arts for Replenishment and Change, 13 years ago. She counsels people of all ages on a variety of issues, including bereavement, depression, anxiety, couples issues, recovery, and sexual abuse, and focuses on helping people become authentic and comfortable with who they really are. Dr. Coffey is also dedicated to facilitating healthy growth through the creative arts; she incorporates techniques from art, drama, poetry, and play therapy and works with schoolchildren as a Theater teacher and Drama Therapist.
As a Registered Drama Therapist and Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Coffey specializes in collaborating with teachers to bring Language Arts to life. She has has brought her experience and her affinity for working with schools to Richmond's Thirteen Acres, Linwood Holton Elementary, Charterhouse School at United Methodist Family Services, Ginter Park Elementary, William Fox Elementary and Sabot at Stony Point School.
Having grown up as a middle child in a large family, Dr. Coffey has a natural understanding of different points of view. She was attracted to psychotherapy as a result of this understanding, and attributes her success to her hard work, creativity, and authenticity.
Dr. Coffey earned a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in 1995. She also received a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, in Psychology, with a minor in Elementary Education, from Dartmouth College. In addition, she was a student of the North American Association for Drama Therapy, earning certification as a Registered Drama Therapist in 2007.
Always seeking to enhance her professional skills, Dr. Coffey is a member of the Virginia Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, North American Association for Drama Therapy, National Association for Poetry Therapy and International Expressive Arts Therapy Association. Going forward, she plans to expand her work in schools, continue working as a Drama Therapist, and double the size of her current practice.
