The band, who recently released their fifth studio album Not Your Kind of People following a six-year hiatus, will kick off a short string of UK dates with the London show.

Fans of the group will no doubt be keen to see how their latest material translates to the live stage, as Garbage have not toured extensively since 2005.

Not Your Kind of People, which was released via the band's own label earlier this month, has been well received by critics.

It features the singles Blood for Poppies and Battle in Me, although many people heading to the O2 Academy Brixton gig will also be hoping to hear older tracks such as Stupid Girl, Milk and Push It.

Tickets for the show can be purchased online, priced at GBP29.50 plus booking fee.

Support will be provided by Australian rockers The Jezabels, who released their debut album Prisoner in September last year.
