HOLLYWOOD, FL, June 17, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Deborah Morrison, Chief, Safety Management Service for Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) that covers Montgomery/Tuskegee, Alabama, has been selected as an Executive Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Deborah Lee Morrison's commitment to excellence in Healthcare.
Veteran Deborah Morrison has over thirty years of experience as a healthcare professional. Her career began in 1980 upon joining the US Air Force. She attended a16-week technical school at Brooks AFB, Texas, studying environmental health/bioenvironmental engineering. She practiced what she learned at her duty station England AFB, LA with the Air Force for six years.
In February 1988 to September 1998, Morrison served as the Industrial Hygienist at VA Medical Center, Tuskegee. From September 1994 to September 1997, she served as the Safety Specialist at Montgomery, Alabama. During that time she became the Industrial Hygienist before being hired as the safety manager when the two facilities merged into CAVHCS, which served veterans in Central/South Alabama and the western portion of Georgia. Morrison has a strong Industrial Hygiene background and in safety, life safety, emergency management, and dealing with regulations like OSHA, EPA and TJC. She also has excellent management plans, meeting TJC requirements, adopted by a number of health facilities throughout the United States.
Helping to keep the environment safe for veterans, staff and visitors, Morrison applies safety technologies to include unsafe hazards that could cause injuries or illness related problems, and inspects and responds to concerns that could affect the environment. She is the co-chair to the safety and emergency management committee that's required by TJC, ensuring the committees are meeting or exceeding the requirements. She participates in the Green Environmental Management System (GEMS) Committee that is required to meet the President's Executive Order and helps ensures the facility meets the requirements set by the President, VHA and EPA guidelines. She also supervises the Industrial Hygienist, GEMS Coordinator, a Fire Chief with a fifteen-manned department, the Safety Specialist with a position in the works for an Emergency Management Coordinator, as well as ensuring all the programs, policies are kept current.
Morrison was recently complimented as having an exemplary Emergency Management Plan with standard operating procedures from an outside agency, "Booz-Allen Hamilton".
Certified at the master level as a healthcare safety professional and certified as a fire safety manager, Morrison is currently pursuing her certification as an emergency management manager.

Morrison is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the National Association for Professional Women, Princeton Global Network, President's Who's Who, and Continental Who's Who.
