Keith Ellis, who studied electronics at the University of California, Berkeley, has worked in the transformer industry since 1971. Since 1986, he's focused his work on transformer components, with an expertise in bushings and on-load tap changers that are applied to power transformers. He worked for two companies over his forty-two years in the field prior to opening his own business.

"Electric Connection was formed to provide the electric utility industry with my forty plus years of power transformer experience to help clients solve problems, improve specifications, and determine the root cause of failures," Keith Ellis said.

With experience in selling, marketing, and promoting transformer components, Keith Ellis became the leading expert on load tap changers and received numerous sales awards. He has developed a line of IEEE/ANSI standard bushings for the US market beginning in 1992 and also conceived a new concept in IEEE standard bushings that has revolutionized the busing industry.

Over the past ten years, Keith Ellis has been actively promoting bushings with silicone rubber insulators, which now prove themselves as a viable alternative to porcelain. He has published numerous papers in his field and recently published his first book, Bushings for Power Transformers: A Handbook for Power Engineers, in 2011. It is the only detailed book on bushings available today.

Keith Ellis is a member of numerous organizations, including Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Power Engineering Society, Transformers Committee, Bushings Subcommittee, and serves as working group chair for C57.19.00.
