BOHEMIA, NY, June 19, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Suffolk County Bar Association, one of the largest voluntary bar associations in the State of New York which represents the lawyers of Suffolk County, has appointed two attorneys from Roe Taroff Taitz & Portman, LLP to chair significant association committees. Partner Elliott M. Portman has been appointed for a fourth term as chair of the Creditor's Rights Committee. Counselor Christine R. Shiebler has been appointed to a two-year term as co-chair of the Surrogate's Court Committee, a role that partner John J. Roe III most recently held.

"These independent appointments represent the confidence the Suffolk County Bar Association places in Roe Taroff Taitz and Portman attorneys and the high standing we hold among our peers," said John J. Roe III, partner at Roe Taroff Taitz & Portman.

The committees meet to discuss a variety of topics including proposed, new and existing legislation, evolutions in society that affect the law, and specific problems that affect attorneys or the courts. The committees are comprised of lawyers, judges and law students, and they are designed to assist the Suffolk County Bar Association in its mission of "cultivating the science of jurisprudence, promoting reforms in the law, facilitating the administration of justice, elevating the standard of integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal profession and cherishing the spirit of brotherhood among the members thereof."

The Committee holds itself out as a resource to the larger Suffolk County Bar Association on questions regarding debt collection or judgment enforcement.
